Backup power for Spring, TX

Standby Power Generators

A power outage can interrupt more than the lights. Cooling, heating, refrigeration, internet and other systems your household depends on can all stop at once. A permanently installed standby generator can provide automatic backup power when utility service goes down.

Scogin-Aire works with Generac standby power equipment. These systems are installed outside the home and can run on natural gas or liquid propane, depending on the fuel source available at the property.

How automatic standby power works

A standby generator is designed to respond on its own. The basic process happens in four steps, from the moment utility power is lost until normal service comes back.

Generator standby process step 1

1. Utility power stops

The generator system senses that normal utility power has been interrupted.

Generator standby process step 2

2. The generator starts

After a short delay, the standby generator starts automatically without someone needing to be home.

3. Power is transferred

The transfer switch moves selected electrical loads from the utility to generator power.

4. Utility power returns

When normal power is restored, the system transfers back and the generator shuts down after a cool-down cycle.

Why homeowners choose standby power

A generator is not just for long outages. It can also reduce the stress of short interruptions when the weather is bad or no one is home.

Automatic operation

The system can start and transfer power without someone going outside or setting up a portable generator.

Permanent fuel supply

Natural gas or liquid propane can remove the need to keep filling a portable generator with gasoline during an outage.

Support for key loads

The system can be designed around the circuits and equipment you want to keep running, based on generator size and electrical needs.
